TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE
TROUBLE
Motor fails to rotate
(no noise is heard
at all).
Motor runs but
there is no suction.
Beater bar does not
rotate.
Cord reel does not
rewind properly.
(except MC-E590)
Dust sensor
(MC-E593 only)
(RED light does not
light even if the
carpet is dirty).
Pre-filter wiper
does not turn.
CHECK POINT
Mains plug connection.
Mains plug fuse. (UK, IRL only)
Thermal cut out device may
have operated.
Hose inlet is blocked.
Check dust mark.
Pre-filter
Central filter.
Check hose is properly inserted
to the suction pipe inlet.
Check dust accumulated on
main filter.
Clogged by a large object in the
beater bar housing.
Over current cut-out may have
operated.
Check beater bar pedal is in
"OFF" position.
Thermal cut out device may
have operated.
Cord may be twisted.
Cord may be dirty.
Hose inlet is clogged.
Check for any possible blockage.
Check the pre-filter wiper is not
trapped underneath itself.
Check dust accumulated on
main filter.
POSSIBLE SOLUTION
Check that the mains plug is connected firmly
and mains socket is ON.
Check fuse and replace if blown.
(See protection features).
If there is a blockage, remove it.
If it shows full, empty the dust compartment.
If the pre-filter is full of dust, clean it.
If the central filter is full of dust, clean or
replace it.
Re-insert the hose to suction pipe inlet
correctly.
Remove dust accumulated or replace the
filter. (see page 10 FILTER CARE)
If there is any obstruction, remove it and
press the reset button to reactivate the beater
bar motor.

Press the pedal to the "ON" position.
(See protection features)
Pull out the power supply cord fully and
rewind it again.
Wipe the cord clean with duster.
Find the blockage and remove it.
Remove the obstruction.
Rotate the pre-filter wiper in an anti-clockwise
direction until it untangles.
Remove dust accumulated or replace it.
(see page 10 FILTER CARE)
NOTE: If the flexible power supply cord becomes damaged, it must be repaired by Panasonic, or
an Authorised Service Centre or a qualified person in order to avoid any hazard.
CAUTION: Disconnect from the mains socket before carrying out any kind of maintenance operation.
Before returing the vacuum cleaner to a Panasonic Service Centre, check the following points:
