Channel reception settings and TV aspect settings

Preparation

Turn on the television and select the appropriate

video input to suit the connections to this unit.

Insert so the poles (

and ) match those in

the remote control.

Press [] to turn the unit on.

When connecting to a television that has the Q Link functions

(Operations Guide page 43), downloading from the television starts.

You can download the tuning positions from the television.

This unit’s Auto Clock Setting function synchronizes the time when

the TV channel that is broadcasting time and date information is

tuned.

 If the Country setting menu appears on the television.

Press [, ] to select the country and press [ENTER].

Auto-Setup starts. This takes about 8 minutes.

After the channel reception setting is complete, TV aspect setting

screen appears.

Press [THEATER] to switch the remote

control to operate this unit.

Insert the included batteries into the remote control.

After pressing [] to turn the unit on for the ﬁ rst time, the unit starts

necessary setup.

If the setup screen does not appear, press [DVD], and turn the main

unit off and on again.

 If the clock setting menu appears

Set the clock manually (Operations Guide page 41).

 16:9: 16:9 widescreen television

 4:3: 4:3 standard aspect television

[RAM] Even if it records and plays, the aspect does not change.

[DVD-V] Video recorded for a widescreen is played as Pan & Scan

(unless prohibited by the producer of the disc) (Operations

Guide page 50).

 Letterbox: 4:3 standard aspect television

Widescreen picture is shown in the letterbox style (Operations

Guide page 50).

 To conﬁ rm that stations have been tuned correctly (Operations

Guide page 39)

 Resetting channel settings (Operations Guide page 40)

All necessary steps of setup are completed.

Please see the Operations Guide for recording and

playback operation.

Perform the settings and installation listed from page 7 to back

cover if necessary.

Press [, ] to select the TV aspect and

press [ENTER].

To change the on-screen menu language

 While stopped, press [FUNCTIONS].

 Press [, ] to select “To Others” and press [ENTER].

 Press [, ] to select “Setup” and press [ENTER].

 Press [, ] to select “Display” and press [].

 Press [, ] to select “Language” and press [ENTER].

 Press [, ] to select the desired language and press [ENTER].

When “” (Russia) is selected in the Country setting menu, the name

of TV stations may not be correctly displayed and the Auto Clock

Setting does not work. Set the clock manually (Operations Guide  41).
