HDD Safety Mode (HDD SAFETY
MODE)
A hard disk drive can be damaged if it is moved and
shocked while its motor is revolving. This menu is provided
for HDD protection purposes and enables you to stop the
motors from starting even when the recorder is being pow-
ered. Use this when you cannot switch off the recorder and
you have to mount or dismount the units.
1. Move the cursor to HDD SAFETY MODE.
2. Select ON or OFF with the JogDial and press the
JogDial.
The default setting is OFF.
ON: Stops the HDD motors.
OFF: Keeps HDD motors revolving.
3. When you select ON, hold down the [SETUP/ESC] but-
ton for 2 seconds.
The recorder closes the setup menu and enters power-
up procedures.
4. A message "DO NOT MOVE HDD" appears when
power-up procedures are completed.
Wait for about 30 seconds while the green indicators in
the numeric buttons 1-8 on the front panel turn on and
off every 2 seconds.
5. A message "ALL HDD MOTORS STOPPED" appears.
The indicators 1-8 light up in green for two seconds and
in amber for two seconds. Now you can move the units.
6. After you mount the units in the rack, move the cursor to
ON. Select OFF with the JogDial and press the JogDial.
OFF: Escapes from the menu and restarts power-up
procedures.
A message "SET DONE!" appears on the screen and
the recorder enters normal operation when power-up
procedures are completed.
Note: While HDD motors are stopped, the following
inputs will be disabled.
Input events for recording: button operation, VMD
and lapse of preset record start time
