Taking a still picture while recording a motion
picture
Still pictures can be recorded even while recording a motion picture.
During motion picture recording, press the shutter button fully to record a still
picture.
Note
During motion picture recording, if you press the shutter button halfway, or record still pictures
with the touch shutter, the camera will refocus and the refocus movement will be recorded to
the motion picture being recorded. To prioritise the motion picture image, recording still pictures
by fully pressing the shutter button, or creating still pictures after motion picture recording is
recommended. (P94)
The touch shutter function will also work if you unintentionally touch the touch panel, so be
careful.
Recordable pixels and recordable number of pictures are displayed by pressing the shutter
button halfway.
Recording of motion picture will continue after taking the still picture.
Simultaneously recorded still pictures will be recorded in an aspect ratio of [W], and picture
size of [3.5M]. The picture quality may be different from [3.5M] of standard pictures.
Up to 5 still pictures can be recorded during recording of the motion picture.
The flash setting is fixed to [Œ].
Zooming may stop when a picture is recorded while zooming.
Simultaneous recording is not possible when [VGA] or [QVGA] is set in [Motion JPEG].
Operation sound of the shutter button may be recorded when a picture is taken during motion
picture recording.
When the subject has a bright part, reddish stripes may appear on the LCD monitor.
Alternatively, part or all of the LCD monitor may turn a reddish colour.
