For details on [REC] mode menu settings, reterto P19.
In sunlight, under incandescent lights or in other such conditions where the coior of white
takes on a reddish or bluish tinge, this item adjusts to the color of white which is ciosest to
what is seen by the eye in accordance with the light source.
Applicable modes:
[AWB]: Automatic adjustment
[•it]: When taking pictures outdoors under a clear sky
[^]: When taking pictures outdoors under a cloudy sky
[fij: When taking pictures outdoors in the shade
['A']: When taking pictures under incandescent lights
[tSi]: Value set by using [iftSET]
[tfiiSET]: Set manually
•The optimal white balance will differ depending on the type of halogen lighting being recorded
under so use [AWB] or [äset].
Auto white balance
Depending on the conditions prevailing when pictures are taken, the pictures may take on
a reddish or bluish tinge. Furthermore, when a multiple number of light sources are being
used or there is nothing with a color close to white, auto white balance may not function
properly. In a case like this, set the white balance to a mode other than [AWB].

Setting the white balance manually
1 Select [jSiSET] and then press [MENU/SET].
2 Aim the camera at a sheet of white paper etc. so that the
frame in the center is filled by the white object only and then
press [MENU/SET],
3 After setting, select [tSi].
WNote
•The white balance setting is memorized even if the camera is turned off. (However, the white
balance setting for a scene mode returns to [AWB] when the scene mode is changed.)
