Useful information:
If you are away from the unit for a long period of time, we recommend the following.
1.
Set this feature.
2.
Also activate PC FAX (page 116), and keep your computer turned ON.
For PC FAX, start Multi-Function Station. [Application] [PC FAX]
In this case, data will be transferred to your computer using PC FAX feature, then the transferred data will be
deleted from your unit automatically. The same data will also be sent to your email address, so you can check
your messages daily, preventing the unit from running out of paper/memory etc.
To activate this feature, set the following beforehand:
1.
Set the unit to FAX ONLY mode.
/FAX AUTO ANSWER (repeatedly): "FAX ONLY MODE"
2.
Program the email server settings.
1.
Start Multi-Function Station.
2.
[Device] [Configuration Web Page] [Network]
3.
Type “root” as the user name, then enter the programming password (feature #155). [OK]
4.
Select the [EMAIL FEATURE] from the menu.
5.
Click [Edit] next to [EMAIL SERVER].
6.
Enter email address (from), email server information, and time zone. [Submit]
3.
Register email destinations (recommended).
1.
[Device] [Configuration Web Page] [Directory]
2.
Type “root” as the user name, then enter the programming password (feature #155). [OK]
3.
Select the [ADDRESS BOOK] from the menu.
4.
Click [Edit] next to the desired item you want to register or edit. [Submit]
4.
Activate the fax to email feature, and set the destinations.
1.
[Device] [Configuration Web Page] [Device]
2.
Type “root” as the user name, then enter the programming password (feature #155). [OK]
3.
Select the [FAX FEATURE] from the menu.
4.
Select [ON] from the [FAX AUTO EMAIL] drop-down list.
5.
If necessary, select [ON] from [PASSWORD PDF] drop-down list and enter a 4-digit password.
6.
Click [Edit] next to [DESTINATION].
7.
Click [Address Book] next to the desired destination.
8.
Click the name that you want to send the received fax documents to. [Submit]
9.
Close the web browser.
To check the status of the last 15 transfers
1.
Start Multi-Function Station.
2.
[Device] [Configuration Web Page] [Device]
3.
Type “root” as the user name, then enter the programming password (feature #155). [OK]
4.
Select the [FAX FEATURE] from the menu.
5.
Click [List] next to [RESULT].
8.8 Internet fax
Using this feature, you can send and receive documents as email attachments (TIFF-F format) over the Internet.
If the other party is using a machine that supports Internet fax, you can send originals directly to the other party
without using an email server (Direct SMTP).
Important
Set the unit to fax mode.
