To make a portrait copy, set the original in portrait direction. To make a landscape copy, set the original in
landscape direction.
3. Close the document cover.

Confirm that there are no documents in the automatic document feeder. (

Place the original onto the scanner glass gently. To avoid malfunction, do not press down too firmly.
If the original is a book thicker than 15 mm, do not close the document cover.
Confirm that any ink, paste or correction fluid has dried completely, as this may mark the scanner glass.
3.3.2 Using the automatic document feeder
Important
Confirm that there are no documents on the scanner glass.
Confirm that any ink, paste or correction fluid has dried completely.
Remove clips, staples or other fasteners.
1. Open the document tray ( ) and the document sub tray ( ).

2. Insert the document (up to 75 sheets) FACE UP into the feeder until a single beep is heard.

Adjust the width of the document guides ( ) to fit the actual size of the document.
Note
Do not insert the following types of documents (Make a copy of the document using the scanner glass and
set the copy instead.):
Chemically treated paper such as carbon or carbonless duplicating paper
Electrostatically charged paper
Badly curled, creased or torn paper
Paper with a coated surface
Paper with printing on the opposite side that can be seen through the other side, such as newsprint
