Safety

Short Cooking Times
$s microwave cooking times are much
shorter than other cooking methods it is
essentiaO that recommended cooking times
are not e[ceeded without Àrst checking the
food.
&ooking times given in the cookbook
are appro[imate. )actors that may affect
cooking times are preferred degree of
cooking, starting temperature, aOtitude,
voOume, size and shape of foods and
utensiOs used. $s you become famiOiar with
the oven, you wiOO be abOe to adMust these
factors.
,t is better to undercook rather than
overcook foods. ,f food is undercooked,
it can aOways be returned to the oven for
further cooking. ,f food is overcooked,
nothing can be done. $Oways start with
minimum cooking times.
Important
If the recommended cooking times are
exceeded the food will be spoiled and
in extreme circumstances could catch
Àre and possibly damage the interior of
the oven.
Small quantities of food
Take care when heating smaOO Tuantities
of food as these can easiOy burn, dry out
or catch Àre if cooked too Oong. $Oways set
short cooking times and check the food
freTuentOy.
NEVER OPERATE THE OVEN WITHOUT
FOOD INSIDE.
Foods low in moisture
Take care when heating foods Oow in
moisture, e.g. bread items, chocoOate,
popcorn, biscuits and pastries. These can
easiOy burn, dry out or catch on Àre if cooked
too Oong.
:e do not recommend heating foods Oow in
moisture such as popcorn or poppadoms.
The oven has been deveOoped for food use.
:e do not recommend that it is used for
heating non food items such as wheat bags
or hot water bottOes.
Christmas Pudding
&hristmas puddings and other foods high in
fats or sugar, eg. Mam, mince pies, must not
be over heated. These foods must never be
Oeft unattended as with over cooking these
foods can ignite.
Boiled Eggs
Eggs in their sheOO and whoOe hard boiOed
eggs shouOd not be heated in microwave
ovens since they may e[pOode even after
microwave heating has ended.
Foods with Skins
Potatoes, appOes, egg yoOk, whoOe
vegetabOes and sausages are e[ampOes
of food with non porous skins. These must
be pierced using a fork before cooking to
prevent bursting.

/iTuids and other foods must not be
heated in seaOed containers since they are
