Plastic
Many pOastic containers are designed for
microwave use, but do not use for cooking
foods high in sugar or fat or for foods that
reTuire Oong cooking times e.g. brown rice.
OnOy use Tupperware containers if they
are designed for microwave use. 'o not use
MeOamine. 1ever cook in margarine cartons
or yoghurt pots, as these wiOO meOt with the
heat from the food.
Paper
POain white absorbent kitchen paper kitchen
toweO can onOy be used for microwave
cooking e.g. covering bOind pastry cases and
for cover ing bacon to prevent spOattering.
ON/Y USE FOR SHORT COOKING
TIMES. NEVER RE-USE A PIECE OF
KITCHEN TOWE/. A/WAYS USE A
FRESH PIECE OF PAPER FOR EACH
DISH.
Avoid kitchen paper containing manmade
Àbres.
,f you are using branded recycOed paper
toweO, check Àrst that it is recommended for
microwave use. 'o not use wa[ed or pOastic
coated cups or pOates as the Ànish may
meOt. Greaseproof paper can be used to Oine
the base of dishes and to cover fatty foods
e.g. bacon rashers, to stop spOattering.
:hite paper pOates can be used for SHORT
RE HEATING TIMES, on Microwave onOy.
Wicker, wood, straw baskets
'ishes wiOO crack and couOd ignite.
'o not use wooden dishes in your
microwave.
Cling Älm
Microwave cOing ÀOm can onOy be used
for covering food that is reheated by
microwave. ,t is aOso usefuO for covering food
to be cooked, but care shouOd be taken to
avoid the ÀOm being in direct contact with the
food eg. 'o not Oine dishes with cOing ÀOm.
Roasting bags
Roasting bags are usefuO when sOit up one
side to tent a Moint, for roasting by power and
time. 'o not use the metaO twists suppOied,
when using Microwave.
Aluminium foil
6maOO amounts of smooth aOuminium foiO can
be used to SHIE/D Moints of meat during
defrosting and cook ing by Microwave, as
the microwaves cannot pass through the
foiO, this prevents the parts shieOded from
overcook ing or over defrosting. Take care
that the foiO does not touch the sides or roof
of the oven, as this may cause arcing and
damage your oven.
